windows still go down

ok this may sound really dumb, but i never noticed until today that even when the car is off and the key is out the windows can still go up and down...why?

some cars, the windows still work when you take the key out of the ignition until you open the door

Yeah, you get a couple seconds after you turn off your car before all power is fully cut off. If you look at your driver side buttons, when the buttons are still lit then it still has power (only the driver side is lit but both sides have power) but when it dies out then the power's gone. It comes in handy when I forget to close up my window after I've already turned off my car. :p

Yup. It has to do with the ETACS system. As soon as the circuit is broke by opening the door it will lose power

ETACS.... that acronymn has been dropped a lot and i've seen it many many places. what does it stand for?

I honestly dont know. It has control over aelot of things. Most of its fnction has to do with timed events.

I thought ETACS had something to do with telecommunications systems... mobile phone and all that. I do know that this is becoming a standard feature on vehilces, normally the interior lights, window power, and radio stay on until you open the door. I guess for the most part this makes it convenient to roll up any remaining windows and turn down the stereo so your wife doesnt kill you when she gets in the next time. Interior lights just stay on so you can see to stow the vodka bottle back under the seat before you go in....

i noticed that too a while back. in my dads new truck u can turn it off an pull the key out an the radio will still play until the door is opened. i guess thats the same system yal are talkig about.
