how hard is it to change a blower motor on a 98 pontiac grand prix gtp? i've done a lot of work to this thing myself including struts, trans flush and fill, tie rods, complete tune-up, etc.. the only interior work ive done though is replacing the rear speakers. how difficult is it to replace a blower motor? i dont feel like paying 250$ for a 25$ part. thanks!

The worst part is standing on your head, but it's not too bad.

You pretty much have to be a contortionist but with the right tools it's a 20 minute fix.

When removing the blower fan to replace/oil it, I highly recommend removing the passenger seat. It's just two bolts in the rear and if you slide the seat all the way forward they are very easy to remove. Lift up on the seat from the rear and then pull it out. You'll also need to remove the lower seatbelt bolt.

IMHO removing the seat is a bit excessive. I've had mine in and out several times, before breaking down and buying a new one. Taking out the seat may double your time on this project.

The main thing to worry about is the wiring that's under it. You just have to muscle it through. Also, when putting it back in, make sure that the wires for the blower are aside and not in the blower duct. I made that mistake once and had to pull the thing all the way back out.

I bought the motor from a dealer and remember paying like $60 or so...

It's double what Gmpartsdirect charges.
