Place to go for basic walk-thru's on your 2nd gen. I had to use it a few times on my 92. G'luck and GET A METAL REPLACEMENT!

Possibly reverse flushing the heater core would be sufficient. I had very poor heat in my Dakota until I did that today. You should have seen the gunk that came out. Now it's working 75% Good enough. Heater cores are usually requiring dash removall to get at. Although I'm not familiar with Caveliers.

Its A Pain In The Butt. Your Best Bet Would Be To Take It Somewhere And Get It Done. I Took On The Task Of Replacing It Myself And Half Way Through I Decided To Put The Car Back Together And Take It To A Mechanic. The Entire Dash Must Be Completely Taken Out Of The Car Including Airbags. But If You Want To Do It Yourself Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WTF! Airbags in a 94? Don't think so. Actually this is one of the easiest cars to change the heater core, compared to others. After I paid someone $50 to change my FIRST replacement HC and saw how easy it was, I figure I have saved about $200 in labor the last FOUR times I changed it. I think my old 99% clogged radiator was the reason for needing to change it every year. Hopefully this one lasts a few years.

Very easy to DIY, just unhook the hoses from the HC (from under the car) and remove the heater box from under the dash, there's two pieces, the first one has two screws and pops out, getting it back in is the trick, the other is the main heater box, it has about 8-10 screws and two hoses that go from the heater box to the side air vents. The hardest part, like many car parts, is actually getting the piece out of the way after it's unbolted. The heater box isn't made of the srongest plastic, so don't pull on it hard at all, if it's not coming off easy, there's still a screw or two to remove. Good luck!

IM SORRY I WAS THINKING OF THE NEWER MODELS. THE ONE I TRIED TO REPLACE WAS IN A 98 CAV. VERY SORRY ABOUT THAT.

Eh, no big deal, I figured that. Glad I don't have a newer model, removing and replacing the whole dash four times wouldn't be fun at all, although the newer model HC's are probably stronger.
