1st off, you cant buy Hobby grade RC cars at Wal-mart or any other retail store.
You need to purchase one at a real RC shop the specializes in RC cars. The RC hobbie dosent go off of the outer shell, such as "350" or "RX8", instead they go by the chassis.
Heres an example of a real RC Grade car.
The body or shell is a HPI RX7

The Chassis is made by Tamiya (tt-01)

This is a toy

You cant buy these type of RC's at any old wal-mart ETC..
So Your best chances is to look into some local Hobby Shops (LHS) in your area to find out what is right for you.

This has been bothering me, aren't many wheelbases different? Why is it that there aren't many R/C chassis? I could be very confused, I just want to know the truth of it.

because it would cost too much to specifically design every car out there to the proper wheelbase. Companies would rather make a stable chassis and design bodies around that.. most companies don't just slap some parts together and call it a sale. i'm sure there is alot of r&d, testing involve. therefore making 20-30 diff. chassis just to make things accurate would be expense for eveyone.
ohh yeah, every company does not share the same wheelbase.. Hpi bodies requires alot of wheel well shaving in order to be mounted onto my NTC3.. etc.
