OK I have a '93 civic hatch cx with a mini me swap...I'm tired of dealing with it so I want an h22...well everyone is telling me no don't get one of those get a b18...or 16 well personally I like to be different and wanting an h22 doesn't seem so bad...the only thing is I'd be the only one to have one around here...and that doesn't bother me...but I just wanted to know which engine would be more effective in the long run...any and all suggestions are welcome... :)

I just read the swap guide at the top of the page...well I found a "complete" swap on hmotors for 1950+450 for hasport motor mounts...and I'm sure I could find some axles for cheap on e=bay...I just wanna be different... and have a nice car like my roomie...but more suggestions would help...

Do it, you'll love it. Screw the people who tell you not to, most likely they don't know what they're talking about.

So in reality I'll be spending say at the most...3 grand after install and what not? Because I mean my friend is talking smack with his 5.slow and this is what I want under my hood...total sleeper...I love the sound of an h22 hittin vtec...but really how much would I be spending after it's done..?

Expect to pay at least $3,500-4,000. I'm sure you could do it for a little cheaper, but you'd need some really good hook ups on all the prices. The cost that I've figured ise $3,150 (not including shipping) for the h22a swap w/LSD, hasport mounts (could go w/HCP mounts for a little cheaper), and axles; all from hmotors. Then cost for a new clutch & flywheel, rear mount bracket, and new shocks & springs (you need them; but don't go too low or you'll be braking axles like crazy), intake, header (or you could use the stock h22a one if you're desperate), slim radiator fan, hoses, basic tune-up stuff (oil, tranny oil, plugs, plug wires, etc).

If you only have 3K to play with then you're S.O.L. with the h22a swap.

so what you're saying is that if I am getting a loan I should get around 4-5 g's to be on the safe side? Because that would be no problem I just want my car to have a great motor in it...rarity is the key...

Be even safer dont get a loan to mod a car.

yeah two things
don't get a loan for a mod. trust me i've seen people loose the car cuz the repo man came around.
second, thought about a good suspension upgrade? if u just want to go straight, u got nothin to worry about, but u'r gonna have about 165 lbs more sitting infront of u'r steering. u'r gonna have sum major understeer if u don't do sumthin to prevent it.
don't get me wrong, it's a great swap. mean as hell, and worth it. just a pain to fit it, and a pain to steer it if u don't do EVERYTHING the RIGHT way.

if you decide to do it, let us know how things are going as u go along.

u could try the b18b swap and turbo that. thats another very effective swap. roughly the same cost as the h22 all done. h-motors has the complete change over for 2200 + s&h. u can use factory honda and acura mounts instead of the expensive hasport kits. my brother is piecing together a turbo kit for his 93 coupe for under 1k. i have a buddy that has built 3 turbo civics including a b18b in a 94 coupe. so i could get u sum info if u decided to go that route instead.

ur gonna have to rip out ur wiring harness and send it out to get rewired for the h22...unless u know what ur doing when it comes to wires. i paid about 4k for my swap and that was with me and a friend doing it ourselves. that included s/h, exhaust, intake, short shifter, axles, ecu, and mounts. if u dont want to spend much and want it to be farely easy i would go with a b16. they are the best bang for ur buck. probobly do a complete swap for under 3k
