RMS and engine failures??

What years and models are known to have the problems with RMS and engine failures? Is the Carrera 4s more likely to have these problems? Also, last but not least are these problems becoming less and less of a problem with the newer more current models?

I've read that the rear main seal issue is a problem for all 996s. Which in the United States are model years 1999 to 2005. I had to replace the RMS in my 2001 996 after approximately 35,000 miles.
