Prelude 4th gen 4WS

I was planing to buy a 4th gen prelude with 4ws. What I want to know is, do the back tires turn at all when the car is stationary. Cause I know that the 3rd gen back wheels will turn if it's in park so you know if they are working. I was looking at a 92 with 4ws and turing the wheel and nothing was happening the 4ws waring light was on so I don't know if they don't work or if it's something else. Whats a good way to know if they are working?

The wheels should definately turn when the car is stationary. I believe the amount gets less depending on the speed you are traveling. But you should see the wheels turn.

Nope the 4ws steering does not work. When the 4ws goes out it turns the 4ws light on and LOCKS the back wheels in the standard straight FWD position. No tell what is wrong? could just be a sensor or the entire steering rack is gone?

The most typical problem with the 4WS in the 4th gen preludes is their electronic control unit. The connections in the circuit board are weak to begin with and, as they age, they become brittle and crack. This, in turn, causes them to work only intermittently.

The only sure fire way to fix this aside from getting a completely new board (good luck) is to open up the 4WS ECU and resolder the connections. I think there are only 8 or so to resolder, but I'm not quite sure on that.

If I ever do this project, I'll take some pictures and post them up here for all to see.

h23a2/h22a2/h22a4/5 and as i remember some h20's have 4ws, personally i would stay away from it, unless u got one in good working condition, too much hassle :)

There is no h20.
