headers for 98 t/a

any1 know some good headers for a 98 trans am. I have a loudmouth exhaust and am looking to keep the same pitch w/o sacraficing the sound. I was thinkings kooks... but dont want that cluttery sound at all. I no some guys here have headers on thier cars so plz can u help me. I ALSO DONT WANNA SPEND AN ARM OR A LEG.

Hooker makes a VERY good header for the later F-body with LSx. Buy them uncoated, and send them to Thermal Tech in Hopewell, Virginia, for the thermal barrier coating. We've seen the ceramic stuff flake off and the headers rust out rather quickly (less than three years).
We don't install headers for "sound". We install them to make power. If you're looking for power, this is the right direction. If it's just for "effect", I have no idea what to tell you. Maybe some of those "shorties". They're basically worthless for power output.

You will hate the Loudmouth with headers.
I did...and ended up cutting it off.
Anyways...if you don't want to spend an arm and a leg....avoid Kooks. Pacesetters seem to be the good cheaper header for the LS1 right now.

I have always believed that with headers you should go all the way and get the best (kooks/qtp/dynomaxx) or just get the best bang for the buck which IMO is ceramic coated Pacesetters. Since you don't want to spend the money (neither did I) I highly recommend Pacesetter coated with ORY. I love mine.
As far as loudmouth goes, you will probably hate it. Very loud, raspy and undefined sound. Some guys love it but most do not. Get the headers and decide for yourself. If you decide that you don't like it then the three best alternatives are:
1). Don't get an ORY. Instead get a high flow catted Y-pipe. It may still be too loud but it helps a little. Texas speed & performance sells one for pacesetter headers.
2). keep the loudmouth but replace the resinator with a borla XR-1. Many have gone this route and praise the results. Plus this is cheaper then replacing the entire catback.
3). Ditch the loudmouth and get a complete muffler style catback like hooker, magnaflow or slp dual/dual.
