Bright lights coming on by themselves

I have a '97 SHO and I am having similar problems as other people. My situation is slightly different though. Recently when I have been driving, my bright lights indicator on the dash will slowly turn on. It starts out dim and becomes bright, then the headlights are on, all while the light switch is off. A lot of the time they will turn off on their own after awhile, but one day they would not shut off when i turned the car off, and it isn't the day time running lamps, because the lights were very bright and I turned the timer off, so they should shut off when I turn the car off.

I have read a lot about these problems on this forum, and a lot of people mention the multifunction switch. This could be my problem because my hazzards do not work either (Even though the turns signals work). So if anybody has any advice I would appreciate it. Also, if it is the multifunction switch, does anyone know where i can purchase this other than the dealer?

Thanks for the help!

My mechanic was able to get a multi-function switch.

Possibly you could find one at your local auto parts store

I think NAPA carries them-they are a fairly common problem so most autoparts houses would have them, I think. Might even try ebay! Easy to replace, need a torx driver for two screws as I recall. Good luck, Alex
