SS/SC Vs. WRX

Got off the freeway lastnight and headed North back to my house. Saw the same blue WRX that i've seen on that route around that time about 5 times or so. He always turns left on the street that's a mile south of my place, so I never get to run him. But this time I figured I'd go ahead and follow him on his premature left turn to see the man about a race.

I get in the left turn lane with a big white Towncar seperating us as the WRX screems through the turn whilst I'm stuck behind the biggest boat in the Navy with an operator that can't find the gas...my quarry is getting away! By the time I get around the white tub my future opponent is already 1/4 of a mile down the road and he's not slowing down. So now I have to haul after him just to catch him and once I do catch him I find out the reason why he was so hard to keep up with. He's doing 60 mph in the 45! I'm now pacing him from about two car lengths back and now we're doing 70-75 mph when all of a sudden he punches it. It took me a moment to realize he was on it and this gave him another half a car or so before I got on my go-pedal.

As soon as I got after it I started gaining ground on him, pulling even with him at the end of third and with a powershift to 4th I zipped by him, put a length on him for good measure, then shut her down. After he passed me when I hit the brakes I caught up to him again to give him a friendly wave which he acknowledged with a smile and a nod. He was a late twenties looking guy, with what looked at first to be a police uniform on :eek:, but then I figured it was more likely a security gaurd uniform. :lol: I do wish I coulda caught a red light to have a chat with him though, but no dice. I'll probably get another chance another night anyway as I see him fairly often.

you really think the 05 and below sti's only have 275bhp? lolz they put down 250+ whp so unless they got some kind of magic awd tranny where it only loses like 10% drivetrain, its actually making alittle over 300hp.

Not really. An SRT-4 is over a half a second faster from a dig and traps 4mph+ faster than an SS cobalt..so it wouldn't even have a chance from a roll. An Ion Redline is a better match up for a Cobalt SS...

yes that is true but look at the cars he has raced lately...those cars that he has race are rated with alot more power and are faster stock to stock but he still managed to pull some stuff out of his booty.........

stock wrx's are dogs on a roll...upgrade their exhaust system and ecu and you have a second faster car :)

I've never seen a bonestock cobalt go faster than 14.4@98mph. Seems the average is around 14.7@96mph. What did you run in yours?

I never said it was the king of the highway, but it will surprise a lot of guys that never gave the SS much consideration. As for the .7 sec to go 1 mph, I have no clue. Sounds like a gear change, but third will carry up to 105, so I dunno what the deal is with that.

damn man you need to work on your 60'........I average 2.2-2.0 on the stock kdws...took me a while but it got there...try not launching so high......as for bulldog his car in general might not be as fast as the cars he has been racing....but you have to remmember that all cars arent created equal....and as the underdog he should get cred for beating such respectable cars such as the evo, and wrx.....but if he says he beats an srt then you know its total bs...lol.....no for reals....j/k...not..lol

It shouldn't be that hard since you seem to be a serial killing machine on those streets and have a kill every day. Those people in your area must really suck at driving. A V6 accord can trap higher than you and yet you still beat it by a few cars. There is no "my car sucks at launching" excuse because the Accord does too and actually gains most of the speed in 3 and 4th (if it's a 6 speed) People have run a 13.9 and trapped over 100 mph with a V6 accord with just a CAI and slicks.

How about setting up a donation for him to get a cheap camera to show us how he destroys all these cars. Putting 4 cars on an Evo in about 50 (70-120 if I reemember correctly) mph is quite an accomplishment (for a Cobalt - not for a LS2) Please, make me look stupid. I don't need to see dynos or how much a CAI will give you, just a video and proof. :biggrin: Your ET and trap speed really contradict all your posts. Even if you ran a 14.0 @ 100 mph, you shouldn't be beating all these cars the way you claim.

I launch my car off idle, anything more just results in wheel hop. My motor mounts are like sponges, it sucks. This is the main reason for most people getting crappy et's, but pretty high mph.

I do have a very nice dig camera that takes vids, but the problem is most of the time I'm racing I don't have a passenger. So how the hell am I going to get video of me racing a car while I'm driving?
However, I will go out this week and weekend with my g/f in the passenger seat armed with my camera so I can try and capture some action. If I do manage to get something on film I'll have to have someone download the vid and compile it for me, as I havent the software or the knowledge to do so.

I also still have some video of Brandon's 5.0 smoking me, would anyone like to compile this one and post it? I'm sure it'll give the Cobalt haters a lot of gratification :iceslolan

He wont tell you. In Baltimore, street racing is uber secretive buisness, he keeps all his slips and reciepts and what not locked up so even if he is tortured and killed, no one will know what is car set up is.

I wanted a turbo car..wanted four doors..and I liked the look of SRT-4s. After test driving STis, and evos for a couple months and not really liking what I got for the price..I test drove a red 03 SRT-4. I loved it. Looked around for a used 04..couldn't find a good deal on one. Then, I finally got a deal that I liked on a brand new silver 05. Very happy with my decision. :thumbsup:

I ended up going with bolt ons/nitrous on my rustang. It ran good for what it was..but I got tired of it and wanted something completely different. I wanted a turbo car..wanted four doors..and I liked the look of SRT-4s. yeah I was very disapointed when I test drove the wrx non sti.......I basically felt nothing till 5000 and it redline at 6000...... :disappoin I wanted to test a evo and sti but they only had them on the show room floor and they woundnt let me test it......bs..... I would think that they were what you would expect but the price is just a turn off......but when I watch the srt vs the sti and evo vids Im glad I didnt spen that much money on those cars....but dont get me wrong they are bad ass...just not my bowl of soup.....are you going to go with the big turbo set up later or stick with the aarons mod.....
