99 Cougar Spark Plug Gap

I have been having alot of trouble with my 99. It does not run well at low idle and misfires at about 2500 rpm's.

I started with the O2 sensors. I replaced two and found by this forum that there is 4. However, the codes do not show any additional problems with the O2 sensors.

I have also replaced the coil pack, plug wires and plugs. The engine light is still coming on and at a constant mph (50-60 mph), the engine light flashes which means misfire. The other codes show a high limit on the IAT. This is what led me to replacing the coil pack. So far nothing seems to help. I also replaced the fuel filter.

I then noticed on this forum that the plug gap is 44, not 54 as stated in the manual. Can anyone confirm this? Would that cause the misfire issue?

that is not enough of a gap difference to cause a missfire issue.i cant say baised in the info you gave. is your check engine light on? if so are any codes reading fuel mixture too lean? (bank one or two or both) if so it could be your intake mainfold gaskets! e-mail me at [email protected] we can get to the bottom of this
