Squeel from pulley

I have a 99 jimmy, I changed out the compressor and noticed that the serpintine belt fit a bit tighter than when I took it off. Now when I start the vehicle it makes a sqeeling sound, so I sprayed some wd40 on the pulley between the Alt and the AC compressor and the sqeeling stopped only to return in a few minutes. My question is: Is the serp belt to tight and if yes how do I adjust it?

Check for tiny cracks in the belt.... Also your tensioner is probably going bad.

The serp belt is not adjustable, the tensioner puts tension on the belt and that keeps it tight. I had a squeeling problem on my '96 Jimmy, replaced the belt tensioner, idler pulley, and ac compressor but still had the squeeling noise. Sounded like the belt was slipping in a pulley. It ended up being the alternator. Bearing went out in the alternator and that is what was squeeling, it's just my luck that that was the last thing I replaced. If you take a rubber hose and carefully use it as a stethoscope, like a doctor, while the engine is running sometimes you can find the source of a squeel. Hope this helps.

It's usually the back side of the belt that goes around the water pump pulley. Take the belt off, and rough up the shiny surface of the pulley with some coarse sandpaper, then reinstall the belt, Spray some silicone spray on the pulley as it's running - that will make it go away.
