i have a 94 s-10 blazer 4x2 automatic....the only way it will shift outta 1st or 2nd is if i let off the throttle for a few seconds and if i hit the gas (say going up a hill) she just revs extremely high, also if im at a complete stop and i hit the gas (like trying to squeeze into traffic) it shifts, either from Overdrive to Drive or Drive to OverDrive i forget...time for a new tranny? if so can i take the tranny out of a 92 s-10 blazer 4x4? what will i have to do to get that to work? thanks for the help

you might wanna run some cleaner through the transmission and do a proper service. sounds like the governor in the transmission isnt puttin out enough pressure to overcome the throttle pressure. i think its fairly common on older GMs and when i was in school one of my teachers told me they would take the cars out with a similar complaint to yours and get em goin about 15mph and slam em into park a couple times and the parking pawl engaging into the parking cog but not locking and popping back out ratcheted the thing loose and it started working again. i know it sounds harsh and i dont recommend it lol but go to autozone and get some seafoam for transmissions and follow the directions on the can. your trans holds about 12-13 quarts. youll have to get it reflushed too.

rahx, your advice is great... if he had a 700R4 transmission, and slamming one into park that is into limp mode will fix it some of the time, done it to a buddies truck once, or twice... but he has a 4l60E transmission, it is not controlled by a cable and pressure like the old days its a signel from the pcm/bcm telling the tranny when to do what, when it dont work, thers a ligit problem... my advice if you did a service is to bring it to a tranny shop and let them look at it
