what's the deal with your old engine. Can it be rebuilt (3.8L)?

blown head gasket. I read in an old car and driver mag that olds put in a northstar without much modification. I am wondreing about more power. the 3.8 is nice, but it could be better.

if its the 3800 series 2 then you DID NOT blow a head gasket, those motors dont blow head gaskets, if i had to guess id say your upper intake manifold cracked, that presents symptoms quite similar to a blown headgasket.
you can fix it yourself for about 300 or so, have a shop do it for far more.
drain the oil out of it as soon as possible, im assuming you have coolant in the cylinders as well as some in the oil? oil mixed with coolant becomes acidic...need i say more?

while your at it you might as well join up and post, the folks there will be more than happy to help you along, and since you have the 3.8, theyll be more than familiar with it.
