Does the OBDII reader detect general engine problems or just those associated with the "check engine soon" yellow light?

Hi Nathan: Going out on a limb here because I know there are guys out there with much more experience than me. It really depends on the reader, if it can access "history" codes. Many codes can be set that will not turn on the "yellow light". These would be mostly intermintant problems that would be stored in memory for a "certain" amount of time and would clear themselves if the problem did not occur again within so many starting or driving cycles. So, YES, there could be DTC's stored in the PCM, or whatever, that will not turn on the "yellow light"

Hope this helps...........Steve
