I have a broken driver side door lock. The cylinder totally came out. First I tired to unlock the door but the key just kep turning and turning. Then I took the key out and the cylinder came out with the key in it. I have the cylinder, but where can I go to get it fixed. Help!!!! Do I need to do to the dealer or can I go to a locksmith.

A common problem. You will probably have to get a replacement handle, if you still have the lock cylinder intact then they may be able to reuse it so you won't have a seperate key for that handle. VW or most independent shops can do the job.

i had the same problem, went to the dealer and the part had changed for the peice that connects the cylinder to the lock mechinism. (small peice shaped like an oar) and they said i would need a new lock cylinder and a few other things. only $22 total in parts but then i would have to get the new cylinder rekeyed to work with my key. Instead goto a junk yard a get one, should only cost you a few $$. Unless the hook part on the back of the lock cyliner is broken, then you will need everything new.
