Hey guys!
Got me a major problem here... i just carried out an oil and filter change on my 1997 Suzuki Vitara 2.0td.
I bought the oil filter from halfords and the oil from tesco... I know the oil was the correct oil as it says on the back for diesel and turbo diesel engines.
I removed tyhe original filter and lots of oil came out. I cleaned all that up and put my new filter on. Added half a bottle of new oil and started her up. She seemed to be fine for about ten mins, then she started to Rumble so i turned the engine off... now she wont even start!!
The only other things i have done is sprayed a little bit of WD-40 on my alternator as it was squeking, and i have added some engine coolant (this was empty) and some redex to reduce engine emissions.
Can anyone help me figure out whats gone wrong or why it isnt working?
Any help is appriciated!!
Cheers
John

I'm in the UK... The majority of Vitara's over here are diesel... you can only get gas (petrol) in the 1.6 JLX.

I've heard rumours about this before... does it really work?
Can anyone confirm that this works and/or how it works?

a diesel engine will indeed run fine on vegetable oil. However, it won't run long unless you process the oil a bit to remove the stuff that gums up your engine. Glycerine and so forth. Search for biodiesel and you'll find lots of people who've converted old VWs and stuff to run on waste oil, or people who have build waste oil converters to run in unmodified diesels.

Shouldn't matter.. All the turbo does is force more air into the combustion chamber. I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find a Non-turbo diesel in a production car. Here in North America, it is, anyway. I dont know much about european vehicle statistics.

greasecar make a conversion kit for running veg oil .. orignally the diesel was designed to run on peanut oil not diesel.
