Today I had to replace my alternator and while poking around , I noticed that one of the 2 hoses from my vacumn advance was unattached -- the only place I could see it went to a small plastisc piece on the exhaust manifold . What is that part ?
Thanks Dennis

do you mean on the intake manifold, plastic would melt on the exhaust manifold?

if its a part screwed into the intake manifold to the pass side of the throttle body, yes that is where your other hose is supposed to go

Would that be the temp control sensor?

the temp sensor is on side of the thermostat housing boss, the one screwed into the SIDE of the intake with a lug sticking out is for automatic cars. the one screwed into the top of the manifold is a metal base with a white plastic top. it should have a small nipple sticking up but its possible its broken off, one of the dist hoses goes to it, the other goes to base of the throttle body

Yes that is it -- the nipple is broken off and the hose is unattached - what is the name of that part and what does it control? 1990 Geo 1.0
5 spd.
Once again Crvette thank you
