Ok! Now that I have your attention....I seem to have a problem with my exhaust. It make this weird sound "rattling" sound. One friend says that I have an exhaust leak, and another friends says my heat shield is rattling...
So what problem makes what sound and how can it be fixed?? :screwy:
Thanks!! :icon16:

Its probably the heat sheild, jack the car up and start it and listen and put ur hand around the exhaust to feel for leaks. DONT TOUCH! lol, but most likely its your heat sheild

It will sound like a loud tractor or like you had a hole in it. And just because you cant shake it doesnt mean your car cant :)

True true...thats right now...I remember when my dads 5.0 liter caprice had a crack in the exhaust...my dad was too embarassed to drive it...DAMN that was loud, LOL,
Alright well it must be a heat shield rattling then! Do you know it would be tightened??
THANKS!!

you could... is the rattling coming from the engine bay? or from under you

while in neutral have a friend look over the engine bay. Rev it a bit and let him listen. If there's an exhaust leak, he'll hear/see it if it's bad enough. Or you can run a pinch of seafoam through the car to find the leak. What does your car sound like at WOT? Check the manifold to turbo bolts and the turbo to 02 bolts. Get new gaskets if it still happens.

Thanks for the help, but when you said check the turbo bolts, you made me really sad :disappoin I wish I was boosted! Lol
But the noises definitly sound like it is coming from beneath me (which is the heat shield), but it also sounds like it is coming from where the downpipe attaches to the rest of the exhaust..>Also at WOT there is no sound...hope that helps!
THANKS!

sorry :grinno:
If you really can't find the link, run a pinch of seafoam through the car (there's a huge thread about it on tuners) and smoke will come out of your leak, and you'll find it REALLY easily.
