OMG, I get my car back from a bad accident right... I detail the interior...
Then start it up...
I then hear a whistle thing under the hood, It has many tones... When it idles, however when I push the gas the noise subsides but then when I idle during trafic or at a light I hear a loud whistling noise that sounds like im in some sort of fucking spacecraft...
Does anyone know what this could be?
Where would I take it to get diagnosed and fixed? (what kind of shop)

Dude...it's a belt. Replace it with an OEM one, and tighten it up good. If that dosn't work, look at the condition of the tensioners. My car has the same problem, I will be fixing it in the spring.

first of all what is a tensioners?
Second of all the noise sounds like that of a TEA KETTLE whistling when hot and steam coming out also there is a clanky sound that follows the noise... Any one else what are your responses?
I will most likly have it checked out tuesday or something...

Its most likely his fan belt or something. A "tensioner" from the root word tension. As in what keeps a certain tight or looseness on the belt

Open your hood and see if you can tell what area of the car it's coming from. It sounds like it's something pushing or pulling air or vacuum. If it's coming from the front of your engine where the belts are it's probably going to be something there. But I don't know what your car is, whether it's a turbo or anything.

The car is a 1996 Mistu. SPYDER Eclipse GS NON TURBO 2.4 L
It is coming from the front of the car, I believe towards the drivers side under the hood.

definitely a vacuum leak.
what is a vacuum leak, how does it affect the car?
that is the rattling sound or the hot tea kettle sound?

a vacuum leak is when one of the underhood components that has vaccum running through it leaks (usually and old rubber hose). Are you nt or turbo? That's why when you give it gas you don't hear the "whistle", cause it's no longer under vaccum

that is correct I am a NON TURBO.
Does a vacuum leak hurt the engine or any parts? It makes that sound but recently it has subsided and all I hear is what sounds clank noise when Idling only.

I am almost 100% positive it is a belt, because it goes away when you rev the engine to higher rpms. I'm telling you, my car has the EXACT same problem. It's like a really high squeel. Very annoying. Pop the hood and listen for where the sound is coming. I bet it's right above the serpentine belt.

actually if it was a slipping belt it would get louder with the load on the engine /rpm. A belt squeal is an obvious sound, this is definitely a vaccum leak. While the car is running, pinch off different vacuum lines. They should all cause the car to idle weird, once you find the hose that doesn't cause the idle to fluctuate, find the hole in that hose.
