Fools in Shorts (are they cool?)

I like to wear shorts when it's warm. Almost everyone does. The thing I can't understand is why anyone would wear them when it's cold. I see some brainiacs sporting shorts even in the dead of winter when it's well below freezing. :screwy: Often times they'll even have a parka or some other type of jacket on at the same time! This seems quite ridiculous. So what's the point? If this is some kind of fashion statement that they think makes them look "cool" I don't get it.

I know women sometimes wear a dress in the winter but that can't really be compared to shorts because a dress IS a fashion statement. For guys there is no reasonable (to me) explanation. Do what you want but if you wear shorts when it's cold out I chuckle at you.

I used to wear shorts during the winter, but I did that because I found pants uncomfortable, which is probably why they do it too. Now, though all I do is wear pants. What I dont get is how people could wear beanies over the summer, especially here in Texas, I mean can someone explain how that is 'cool'? I mean dude its about 90-100 degrees outside and you're walking around with a beanie. Also same thing goes about jackets, I see some people wear the damn thing all year round.

Well in Texas I wear shorts on occasion with a hoodie during the winter. It just doesn't get cold enough to be bothersome. Plus as long as my upper body is warm, it keeps my lower body warm.

I rarely wear a coat in the winter either, is it because I'm tough? I find it a bit of a hassle to wear while driving, and it's just another thing I have to put in my locker, but I do have a coat, as well as coveralls and boots in my truck for seperate reasons. The whole shorts thing, I don't think it's a big deal if it's just down the sidewalk to a friend's house, or across campus or something, but if they're going to be outside for 10 minutes or more, then they're retarded. Some people just handle cold better, we have a foreign exchange student from Brazil, yeah he hates it, he's obviously never felt that cold in his life. Like right now in the beginning of winter yeah, I prefer to wear a coat and that cuz I haven't quite gotten used to the 10 degrees, and the -10 wind chill. But I rarely have a coat in February because I can go outside in shorts and a tshirt and have it not really bother me.

I have a close friend who wears shorts almost all year round. Why? Because he's more comfortable in them.

Usually the only time that i wear a jacket in the winter is when im snowboarding. Even then sometimes i just wear 2 hoodies. Jackets to me are to big and bulky, most of the time very uncomfortable when driving.

Who cares that you saw a guy wearing shorts in the cold. I've seen and heard of more amazing things. This isn't an interesting thing to think about. People do what they do.

I'm very hot natured, so sweat half to death in the summer. I usually wear shorts in the winter unless it's windy or below about 35*.

I agree that doing it for image, not so smart. Doing it because you're hot, not so dumb.

people who wear shorts when its cold can do it if they want to, but one thing that i have to complain about is that my old history teacher wore 3 inch long shorts on a SNOW day! if a 60 something year old man wearing short shorts isnt bad enough, he did it in the snow...

I used to walk to class in my slides and t-shirt when it was -20 outside and got really tired of people asking me if I was cold. I WAS. The nice thing was that I was never cold when I was indoors. The other people in class were shivering in their coats and I felt comfy cause it was alot dang warmer than -20 inside :lol2:

In MN people jump into lake minnetonka ( i think thats the one) in january every year. That cant be warm.

Yes, that is me. As a matter of fact, I have a video in to Fear Factor already, seeing as I wouldn't be edgy in the least to do anything I've seen on the show. I was really kicking myself in the ass when I saw the episode where they had to lay in the pit and have 1000(or so) scorpions dumped on them.

I can't get over the fact that people get pissed off because of someones raving. It's a stress releif forum. That's his pet peeve, it doesn't mean it has to be yours. I find it somewhat irritating that people wear shorts in the winter, but most of them are kids that aren't worried about that shit. And that eases my mind because of all other things in the world that are royaly fucked up, us adults are worried about why people wear shorts in the winter. Personally, I think it is a fashion statement, as for some reason the punk/old school look is "in" with the kids nowadays. And sadly, people in their mid 20's are imitating this on tv, settin the stupid trend for kids to follow. So, for those who do it for practical purposes, kudos to you, for those who do it as a fashion statement, have fun while it lasts.

Its cold in ND, but when it gets to be 40 or even a nice day when its 35 or so, i'll bust out the shorts.....i just do it because they're comfortable.....I live for the lake in the summer!!

October 35-40 and april 35-40 are two totally different temps. Anyone in the midwest will agree on that one. April 35-40 im busting out the shorts, october 35-40 im in pants and a hoodie.
