Remote starter problems

Hello
I may be posting in the wrong section, but I couldn't find a better place.
I'm trying to install a Bull Dog Security remote starter on my '94 Topaz.
I have all the wires connected correctly, according to the direction booklet.
The problem I have, is that when I press the 'Start' button on the remote, the car starts but keeps cranking untill I press the 'Stop' button which turns the car off.
I do not have the tach hooked up, would that tell the unit to stop giving power to the crank wire?
