hello, i am new to this site. i had a few problems with my 99 olds alero. first, the oil change light, low tire light, and anti-lock light stay on. i just had an oil change so the tire and oil lights should be off. do i reset this myself? second, i was wondering if there are any manuals i can download to fix my brakes. i know i need to change the brake pads and i am hoping to do this myself. could the problem be more than the pads, if so what? any help would be great. thanks

Look in the book that came with the car..... As for the brakes it's easy but go to AutoZone and buy the Alero book...

The oil change and low tire pressure lights need to be reset manually - their reset switch is in the fusebox on the driver's side. Reset them when time you do an oil change or check/change tire pressures, or do a tire rotation.
Brake pads are fairly easy to do, but the Alero (and its GM kin, Grand Am and Malibu) are known for going through rotors ridiculously fast. Check thickness of rotors and replace with aftermarket non-GM parts if needed.
You might need to have a GM dealer do a diagnostic to determine the cause of the ABS light - mine came on with a bad wheel bearing sensor, but the Service Vehicle and Traction Control lights came on as well, don't know offhand what would light up only the ABS light....

Just because the ABS light is on doesn't necessarily mean that the pads need to be replaced. Like the last post said, take the car in to be diagnosed.
