As of now im shopping for one of these bad boys. It will be a 95/96 body style. I own a 98 3.8L V6 and need some more power. I have yet to see a trans am in person. I like the fact that the Formula is a v6 body style with an 8 under the hood. Judging from pics i see on the net, the T/A looks very flashy and mean looking as hell!!!! Any opinions would be nice!

Are you going to mod it?

FWIW, while they were being sold new, the Formula was advertised as a better performance car than T/A. T/A was the "luxury" version. It is said the Formulas are lighter due to less options and other "refinements" found in T/A. I've been told a similar comparision is Camaro SS versus Z/28 (of the mid-90s on), the latter being more like T/A and the former like Formula.

I'm sure Mr. Luos will have more to add to this.

Kinda.

It all depends on what the car will be used for.

Honestly, the best one to get is the one you find the best deal on. Formulas are generally less expensive and weigh a little less. But TA's are more abubdant and have the flashier looks.

Look around and consider cost, mileage and overall condition. Either model will be a winner in my book. Good luck.
