Don't spray enamels over acrylics.

Tamiya sez it can be done....
Tamiya paint guide (http://tamiya.com/english/scale/beginner2/2.htm)
...but in general, I wouldn't consider enamel over acrylic a safe practice.

Also as a general rule, the harder the chemical makeup of the paint the better chances of painting over.
E.g. Automotive paint can be painted over with hobby paint and subsequently waterbased paints . . . However, this can't be done in reverse. . .
In any case. . . Mixing mediums is still a big "no no". . . :nono:

It may well be worth noting that Tamiya's paint guide is applicable to Tamiya paints, they are designed by the Tamiya 'paint gurus' to be compatible, unfortunately their rule of compatability is not universally applicable and thus, should not be treated as such.

It can be done, but is not 100% safe and why would you want to? Better to find a good acrylic clear and use that.
