A.b.s. Pump And Assy.

The A.b.s. On My 1995 Crown Vic P.i. Named Cockroach Went Out. My Mechanic's Computer Returned A Defective Pump Code. New Abs Parts Are Expensive - About $800 Or More And Hard To Locate Even From The Stockpile Of New Parts, According To My Mechanic Jr.

I Started Looking The Internet For "recycled" Parts And Found A Few Pumps And Abs Assembly Kits Reasonably Priced But Listed For Model Years Of '96 And '97. Can I Use A.b.s. Coponents On Cockroach That Are Newer Than The Original 1995 Parts? Is There Anyone Out There Who Might Be Able To Sell Me These A.b.s. Components?

Bet it was a C1285 Hydraulic pump motor circuit failure.

Hey, way2old! Bet yer right, and that could be as simple as a blown fuse, which most people check last, or a dirty connection at the pump. The latter has usually been the case on most my taxis.

I couldn't reach my mechanic pal Junior today, but last Friday, I saw him with his "T" shaped test box at work. Whether or not he was guessing, I don't know. I have learned from a post that I found in this Forum's archives that there is a special sub listing in OBD II Protocol that will diagnose A.B.S. troubles. My car, however is a model year 1995 and uses OBD I. I think Junior may have given himself a dope slap and copped a "Mechanic's Shrug". I don't know fer sure, but I do remember him telling me that I had a "Hydraulic pump motor circuit failure...", just as way2old said in his response to my post.

I appreciate your input and rest assured I will pass your opinion on to my mechanic, Junior. He's actually a bright guy and I think he was in too much of a hurry when I approached him to fix my problem. After all, it wasn't a safety issue.

In the past I have shown my mechanics print outs from the Forum and I will do so in this case. You better believe I'll hound Junior into checking fuses and sensors, even rubber brake line endings. I have learned much from guys like you in this Forum, and I'll make sure my mechanics know it!!!
