welll i guess i just got the bad news from ez1286 that i have a blown head gasket.... is there a write up on how to do the head replacment, and what gets replaced and what doesn't.... and anyone know how long it would take? I can't have the car not running longer than a weekend..... or could it wait for like xmas week? it doesn't seem to be that bad, its only showing white fluid on my oil cap... and a tad in the dipstick.... is it driveable? till xmas? thanks for the help, aaron

its a 6 bolt engine, weird thing is that supposudly the car had rebuilt engine and tranny..... weird that it gasket would be bad, and i was just thinking wouldn 't my car be overheating? it doesn't... there is no bubbles in the coolant... the oil looks kinda orange... but its only been 7xx miles since the oil change... it idles a little weird, but i have a boost leak somewhere...., i am just trying to avoid thinking that its the headgasket.....

Well I would try NOT to drive it because, you will just be making the damage worst, ALSO since their is a blown head gasket, there will be an incredible amount of heat around the head and block (lack of coolant flowing inbetween these parts) so after a while these parts will begin to morph, and you do not want that!

Good luck!

You said the coolant oveflow was leaking...this is because the head gasket is not sealing and air is being forced into the cooling system this will increase the pressure making the coolant overflow. I say(said) don't drive it you might be sorry if you do. (too bad you guys got rid of the deathe wedge)

It doesn't take long to change the gasket, but remember what I said about checking the head and block to make sure they are true. Just because the engine is supposed to be rebuilt doesn't mean you can't blow a HG. If the head is warped, the you WILL blow it again, and again, and again.
