Sunroof issues

So i went to open my sunroof the other day, and i get nothing, no sound or movement of any kind. so i check the fuse and its fine, there is a little electronic box near the button to open the sunroof but i am no good with electronics so i dont want to screw anything else up? any ideas>?

You dont get any sound at all? If thats the case, either the motor is shot, or water or something shorted out to the motor, so its not getting power.

Hook up a cable from the battery directly to the sunroof motor, and that will tell you if the motor is toasted. If it works with direct power then your problem is with the switch or something else.

are you kidding!! if the motor wasn't toasted before that, it surely would be afterwards.

anywho....i had the same sort of problem with my sunroof. what i did was take out the switch and clean it up a little bit and check and make sure the switch is working before you replace the motor.

Where do you think that motor gets its power from in the first place?

No I'm not kidding. That's the proceedure in the manual. "Connect the vehicle's battery to the sunroof motor using fused jumper wires. Withe the positive terminal connected to terminal 1 and the negative connected to terminal 2, the motor should turn counter-clockwise. When the jumper wires are swapped, the motor should turn clock wise."
