Check Engine Light, and tink sound

I drive a 2003 Stratus R/T

Tonight while driving from the mall to a fast food place, my Check Engine light when on. For no apparent reason. The Car drove the same nothing seemed wrong at all. It is a cold windy night around these parts, but i dont know if that would cause it. I am in need of an oil change but i figured that wouldnt bring up the check engine light it would bring up the oil light on the dash? This happened a few months back and the dealer said there was nothign to worry about when i took it in for an oil change and the light went off.

Now wether this is related or not, i have no idea i have asked my dealership about this and they dont seem to hear it. But whenever i start the car in the AM or evening and go from Park to reverse i hear a "tink" (not extremely loud) it sounds more like two magnets that hit eachother to describe the noise. I can also slightly feel the tink on my brake pedal. If i were to repeat the process (park to reverse) there would be no tink. This has been like this for about 6 months or so and hasnt gotten worse and sometimes it does not do it. My dealership said it may be my transmittion needing service?

So does any of this sound at all familiar. My car does not react weird and it drives perfectly fine no shimmy or weird shifting so this all just seems very weird to me. And i want to make sure i have some more knowledge before going to my dealer so i can make sure they are taking care of me 100%.

Hummmm not sure about the tinking noise. As far as the check engine light the oil change it would not turn it on. I have a GT Eclipse and my oil is almost 2500 miles over and my check engine light is on. You could have a misfire in one of the cyclender and that is what set it off. I had a similar thing happen on my Eclipse and they reset the computer and haven't have the issue since. You can take to it Advanced Auto Parts, Autozone, etc and they can hook it up to a machine and read the code for you.

I own a 2001 Dodge Stratus R/T and I have the same tink noise. And, yes, it only happens the first time on switching from park to reverse. It is so odd! Maybe it is a suspension problem? I don't know.. never had it checked out.

Also, I recently had a problem with the check engine light going on and off, randomly. Finally it stayed on so I had AutoZone run their free check. It came out to be a bad EGR valve. I had it replaced and never had the problem again.

Now, the car has a problem regulating its temperature. I brought it into a dealship in Las Vegas (Dodgeland USA...they are a bunch of liars) and paid them $140 to tell me my radiator cap is cracked. They replaced the cap...but the car still overheats. I am very reluctant to bring it back there. Can you give me any insight or experience you had with this problem??
