Need HELP! I have a 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe 43K Miles 4WD with ABS.
As I come to a stop, I feel a flutter in the brake pedal. Also I can hear the ABS cycle. I'm talking about right before the truck stops. I scanned the ABS and have no codes. (No ABS malfuction light on.) BUT the ABS speed sensors all read 3 MPH at a dead stop. Is this correct? :banghead: I checked with the dealer and it does not have any recalls. Any help will be great. stu777@aol.com

You need to watch comparative wheel speeds from about 6 down, look closely you will usually see one drop out before the others, that is the bad wheel speed sensor, most likely the front.

Should all the sensors read 3 MPH at a stop in park?? I was expecting 0 MPH while at a stop....

3 mph is a default you will see on the scan tool.
As you are coming to a stop, watch the WSS signal..usually you will see one drop lower than the rest and this will initiate an ABS event.
Also you can check the resistance of the sensors and see if one is reading different

855 to 1230 ohms is the spec

Perfect diag..... it was the R/F WSS dropping at 5MPH...... Thank you!

I've got the exact same fluttering problem with the brake pedal right before I come to a stop and hear the ABS kick in. I read the thread, but not really knowing much about codes I have no idea what any of that meant. Is there a way you all could explain it to me? Also, how did you go about fixing the problem?

Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.
