i all ways wanted to know this from ford enthusiast, what is more collectable out of a 70 boss429 and a shelby GT500

acording to the top 50 muscle car list, the boss 429 ran a faster time than the GT500,infact the boss ran low 13s on mag test.

if you had the money which would you go for?

I'd go with the GT500 as far as value is concerned. With the '07 GT500 coming out it going to boost the value of the original making it a better buy of the two right now.

the gt500 is already as expensive as hell, there werent many made in the first place and now there are even less. they are quite valuable.

The boss 429.

In my opinion Shelby has mostly created crap infact he has only created 3 good cars in his life and all of those were under his own name not under that of Ford, Dodge, or Chrysler.

man harsh... lol. ive always thought the gt350 was a pretty good car, it wasnt as powerful as a lot of its competition, but it weighed a lot less and handled way better.

Well, considering that thanks to Barrett Jackson shows an authentic GT-500 can be worth 100,000 to a quarter million now, It's got my vote. For a long time the '68 1/2 GT-500KR in Acapulco Blue was my dream car, but when Gone in 60 came out and everyone jumped on the Eleanor bandwagon I kinda moved my perspective.

Realistically I'd take a Boss '9 any day though, I like the understated exterior for what the car has, and the extreme potential of that motor if you can get parts for it.

yeah and if you didn't care about keeping it original, a 460 crank can be easily found and rebuild kits are cheaper for 429s than 428s.

the 429 does have rediulous potential, thats actually a tuned down version of what the used to run in nascar. tell u what tho, id take a 68 stang with a 427 over both car easily.

If the 1965 GT350 is crap, then how did it win sports car races?

Carroll Shelby helped to transform the Mustang from a secretary's car into a performance machine.

I am sorry but the BOSS name did more for the Mustang than the GT350 did. Ever hear of Parnelli Jones or the 1970 Boss 302 Trans-Am race cars? Thanks to SCCA homologation rules, the street Boss 302 was a high-revving, solid handling, well-balanced race-bred Mustang.

The Shelby GT350 came out before the Boss 302 and the GT350 was raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
