I was wondering what kind of CUSTOM audio setups you guys have. I'm not talking a pre-built box that you dropped in your trunk, I'm talking fiber-glass, any custom unusual sub installs, video displays, etc. I am getting ready to do a HUGE custom install on my car and I just wanna see what you guys did with your 4th gens.

The closest thing to custom stuff I've done is make a Custom Suspension for my CD Changer...

Oh yeah and if and when I get a Sub and Amp I want to build my own box with a plexiglass window and a light inside that comes on when I open my hatch. I guess I will connect it to that light that turns on inside when you open the hatch.

I have a fiberglass box moulded into the spare tire wheel well of my 4G that houses three 10" JL Audio subs and the top plate is made of carbon fiber....the box weighs like 10lb's it is good because then I can still have a stereo when I race....I also have custom fiberglass kickpannels that have my Soundstream mids and tweets in them,.

How much did all that work cost.
And since the box is molded into your spare tire well, what happened to your spare tire?

Sorry I don't have a digital camera yet, however once I get pics of what I have done so far I will be glad to post them. I will also put together a detailed web site at sound domain.
My 90 dx hb will have an IASCA pro street system once I am finished.
The spare tire mold has been glassed and the kick panel molds are done for starters. The doors have been dynamatted and baffles for the 7" mid bass drivers are mounted.
A few other projects include rebuilding the radio console to add another din sized opening for a avx-p7300dvd and dex-p9.
I will keep you all posted!

I was thinking about doing some kick-panels, but don't they just get in the way (especially by the dead-pedal)?

you said you had a 6lb sub box so you can keep it in while racing, are your subs made of air? they gotta weigh at least 25lbs. so wouldnt it just be easier to remove the whole box?

Whats the diff if you have the subs gacing out or turned upside down with the backs of the subs? Would you go with audiobahn

Well, the way the subs face changes how they sound, and most of the time is just for show anyway if the subs are mounted backwards in some fiberglass. If you mount a sub like that, it gives the cone some front pressure to work with, creating larger, fuller sound. It's the same idea as a bandpass box, just without the enclosure around the back of the sub. There also is another type of setup where two subs are mounted face to face, then put out of phase, so one is pushing while the other is pulling... it doesn't do much, and i've never seen one in person, but it is possible.
