Door problem

Ok, winter has taken it's toll on my doors. My driver's side door has been messed up since I got the car, but the passenger side did the same thing this morning. My door skins are coming off my doors. When I tried to get in my car this morning the driver side almost came off so I went to the passenger side to get in the car, and the passenger side is starting to do the same thing. Is there anyway that I can buy something at Advance or somewhere like superglue to keep the skins attached to the door?

Skins? Are you talking about door panels? If it is the panel there is a spray glue that works pretty well. If there is a upholstery shot in your town they should have it. Its not to expensive and should take care of it I have used it on the head liner.

If your talking about the door skin on the outside your screwed. Need new doors then.

um thats weird usally door skins have the lip around the edge beaten around the door frame

I took it to the body shop that's beside my school and they told me that it happens from time to time. I'm pretty sure that it isn't beaten around the door because my passenger side is starting to do it too and there hasn't been any damage to that side.

I would have the body shop fix it but the previous owner tried to fiberglass the door back together and it would cost 150 to get them to grind the fiberglass down and fix it the right way with professional grade stuff to keep the door together.

so it will cost 150 plus the job or 150 for everything?

Wow the out side of the door is coming off, never heard of that happening before. Good luck with that man, SUCK big time

I HAVE THE SOLUTION!!!

This was one of the small problems with my car when I bought it, I ended up using some epoxy stuff that my dad had in his shop(I'll go find out the name later for you!). I had tried it twice and it came off both times, then the last time I made sure to spread that stuff EVERYWHERE I could lol.

1. Get some sandpaper and scratch up the surface of the panels where they will touch each other, make sure to blow out the dust and crap after that.

2. Get the epoxy and apply it with something like a small nail file. Very important: You cannot use enough of it :grinno: Put as much on there as you conceivably can. Make sure to spread it all the way from the top to as far down as possible.

3. Get about 3 clamps(with rubber ends) and use them to hold the panel to the door itself. You'll see where to do this when you see the little lip on the inside. I used a towel to cussion the door's paint from the clamps as extra precation.

4. I did that at about 10:00am and didn't take anyhting off until about 10:00pm... Then I pushed the door shut(NOT slam... keep your hands to push until it latches!) and let it sit overnight.

I did this back in August and it has held strong since then. It is on there solid.

It would cost 150 for everything if I took it to the shop.

Anyway, if you can find out the name of that epoxy stuff that would be great. The door hasn't come completely off yet, just about 3/4 of the way down the end and 2/3 across the top. I'm having a hard time with this now since it's so freakin cold outside.

JB Weld was what I tried the first time, didn't hold.

I unfortunately could not find it because when I used it I think it was nearly empty. All I remember was that it came in a predominately white double tube(it's a 2 part epoxy), with black lettering and cap, and purple background in some areas.

I'm sure he got it at Home Depot or Lowes, so maybe check there?
