Spyder noise -- frying bacon sound

After 20 years with my beloved first gen CRX, I bought a used 2002 spyder with 41K miles. Thus far, I am in awe of the car, but I have noticed a noise that sounds somewhat like a crinkle or frying bacon coming from over my left shoulder. I was wondering if anyone knew what it could be?
