Scion tC vs. Eagle Talon

Alright, so me and my friend Gilchris have always talked about racing each other. He drives a 96 Eagle Talon EsI 5speed, and I drive an 05 Scion tC. We’ve debated whos car would win off the line, and who would win on the highway. At first, I agreed with him that he would kill me on the highway, but I would eat him from a dig. However, speculation is what it is, and we all know that it means nothing in the real world.

So tonight was the last class we had together for the semester, and I was thinking to myself. “you know, I still haven’t raced this kid, maybe tonights a good nice since it’s the last night ill probably get the chance”.

So in class he is egging me on, and at first I was reluctant, just because im like that, but I do accept his challenge and after class, I follow him onto the highway.

We get on the highway doing around 40mph, and im right behind him, with a car in the lane to the right. I hear him downshift and he takes off, I hit WOT and continue to chance, maybe we are even until around 60mph when I reel him in big time and switch to the right lane, and then fly past him like hes not even moving, I continue to around 95 and slow down. He follows me to the next exit and we get off and talk a little bit.

All in all, a good clean highway race. Was really surprised that my auto tC took a 5sp. I know the tC has more HP, but I thought the auto tranny would have severely hindered me but I guess not.

Not too shabby dude. Good kill.

Autos anymore arent nearly as parasitic as the autos from back in the day. So even on the highway they won't be TOO much of a disadvantage compared to a manual. But you still need a little more power and comparable weight to beat a manual equiped car.

Obviously an exact version of your Tc will beat you if it's a manual.

what else have you beaten?

hmmmm....

Pontiac Grand Prix
Chevy Lumina
Dodge Neon SXT
BMW 325xi
VW Jetta 1.8
93 Nissan Altima
02 Toyota Celica GT
Scion xB 5sp
Ford Explorer

thats just off the top of my head...
all of the cars listed above are automatics unless noted differently

nice, now i want to run a TC even more. Probably lose, but i thought that with the last two cars i raced and things turned out different

The Talon Esi is the same as a GS/RS eclipse power wise. 145 hp, not surprised you killed him.
good run, when are we gonna see that tC blown though?

hopefully a lot sooner than later...
before i get the blower, im going to get the turboeast auto tranny upgrade, which shifts the tranny harder and faster, so hopefully thatll help negate the fact that i dont have a stick

hey man auto trannys have advantages. for one you can boost them or use nitrous and not have to worry about the clutch burning out. Autos also handle higher boost loads alot better.
