I just purchased a 1996 intrepid that had set for over a year and a half with 54k on it. I put new tires on it and changed the oil, brakes. 30 miles down the road the timing belt pully broke and the car over heated. I had a new water pump and belt put on. $526.84 My question is should I keep this car? I was told this is something that happends all the time along with other things...

Ther is another problem with the 3.5,the fuel injector rails. They are made out of plastic and crack with small cracks and you will get a gas leak that way.The intake gaskets is one cause of a miss on the 3.5.It is an easy test, spray carb or brake clean between the gaskets surfaces while vehicle running. If it changes there is your problem if a miss happens.Watch out on the intake bolt.,they will break off and can be a pain in the butt to get them out.I have seen that happen.
