MP3 disk

I have an Alpine CDA-9835 and I'm trying to burn an MP3 disk for it. I've done it in the past and it played, but not properly. The song would stop playing from time to time until I hit the fast forward button or skip the track or something like that. It's almost like when you're playing a song on your computer and you have the computer doing too much so the song stops playing for a min...well...my head unit seems to be doing this. What's up?

Also, this most recent disk I made didn't work right at all. There's a TON of songs on it organized into files and all that. When I put it in, it read fine and started playing a song. When I tried to search through the CD to find another song to play, it wouldn't let me select anything. The search showed there were other files and songs on the disk, it just wouldn't let me scroll through them nor select anything else. All the while, there's this one song still playing away just fine. Hit the "next track" button...nothing happens. It's like there's only one song on the disk until you hit the search button and you see that there are other things on it.

All this being said, I KNOW the CD is fine because I clicked the D drive icon and searched around through the disk and all the files and folders are intact as they should be.

Is it my software? I used Roxio Creator Classic. Did I burn it incorrectly? Is my head unit outta whack (I HIGHLY doubt...)?

Any help appreciated.

My pioneer is pretty picky about its MP3s. Try slowing your write speed down to the slowest possible and make sure you're writing on +R media. Skip the +RW or any of the -R media

Make sure you're finalizing the disk
Also might be a good idea to switch cdr brands, I've never had a problem with memorex with my 9835 (cdr or cdrw), might be worth a looksee if you're using the cheapies currently

yeah, pretty much the only time i've ever had problems were with cheap cd. i've used both + and - R as well as RW. i have an alpine 9825 ( i think, i always forget the number). i just have to ask this, and i'm sure you're doin it correctly, you are settin up roxio to burn an mp3 cd right? sorry if that's an insult, i don't mean for it to be

First, make sure all the songs are burning mp3 and not wma. then make sure you are burning an mp3 disk on your computer. what brand blank are you using? sony and memorex are the only ones you should use IMO though memorex blanks can "fall apart" over time more than other blanks, but just about any player regardless of age can play them.

I'm 99% sure the disk is finalized (I'll check this to be sure, though).

I wrote the disk at 16X, middle speed...top is 24X and lowest is 8X, I believe.

And yes, the burning software is set to burn an MP3 disk...and no, I'm not insulted :grinno:

when i use/used roxio to make MP3 cds i always used the "data disc" option since mine was a trial version or something along those lines. I didnt feel like paying for it and doing data disc worked just fine anyway. Never had a problem.

What version of windows do you have? Maybe try a different program if possible. I have roxio for windows ME and it sucks.

I'm running ME, too. I'll look around to find what works.
