96 ilde problem

it has about 240k on it and it idles funny it will surge high and low then it will go up a little high and then it will stop idleing high and it will go back to normal then it will start surging again. any ideas what would cause this. do you think it could be the timing chain?Iac? dirty throttle body or what? if anyone has any ideas let me know.
