I have an Isuzu tropper 1988, 2.6 4 cyl. only the cyl. No. 1 doesn't work. When unplug the spark wire No. 1 the engine not change. Some mechanic adviced me put a 1/8 of automatic transmition oil on the engine because maybe the rigs on this cylinder No. 1 are so tight because the engine was overhead and so let it pass oil over the exost manifold and so not work the that cylinder. May I get some advices about it ? I change the head and put a new gasket.

Hey Pen,
I've got a 90 Trooper, but it has a V6 engine instead of the 2.6L. I recommend doing some tests first.
Does the engine start? If it does, your piston is probably moving. If it does start, check your compression to make sure it's ok, if the engine starts and the piston is not moving, you might have a destroyed piston or cam lobe.
Good luck!

Burbingus :
First of all, tanks for give some advice. Well; the mechanic says the compression test was cyl # 1= 30 pounds, 135, 160 and 165 respectively. When I take off the spark plug is black color like a soak oil. Othe guy adviced me put 5 c.c. of engine cleaner on that #1 cyl. and let soaking at least over night. I did it, so am wating at the break of day so going to start engine on again. anyway, thanks a lot.
