Would this work on my 2000 2.2?

I seem to remember someone, maybe CRJ, saying that when he swapped clusters that it was just a simple swap, no more wires needed.
So you should be fine.

Ya, I did a search but it didn't really say if a Z24 cluster would work in a 2.2. I just thought it wouldn't because they are kind of different cars.

Might throw the speedometer off if the Z24 cluster registers more than the 2.2 cluster.

Hey, if you try it, PM me or post on here if it works. I want to put a tach in, it kinda bothers me not knowing where I am in the rpms.

???
What do you mean "registers more?"
Its just one more input that the gauge cluster is reading from its connection. The non-tach clusters get the same reading, they just don't have a gauge to display it.
The only thing that will throw off a speedo, in this case, would be different tires/wheel combos than stock. And yes, in this case, the "stock" is the base models 15"'s, not the Z24's 16"'s.

There is a how to on JBO about it. I installed a small tach in a gauge pod for my car. Looks killer... IMO.
It will work just fine, but you have to follow the steps precisely. It will only throw the speedo off a matter of tenths of a MPH.

Like I said in my pm to you, I can't guarantee you it will work, but I think the cluster I swapped in was from a z, and it works fine. As far as your speedo being wrong, well considering you have 18" rims now, its going to be off a tad, but not noticable. Also I'm not quit sure what CRJ was refering to when he said follow precise steps...unless he was refering to the tac he installed in his car, but its a simple swap. Remove your guages now, and put the new ones in. Thats all there is to it. But as the guy said above me, he has a cluster from a z in his 2.2 and it works, so you should have no problems.

I have a tach adapter and a tach I was going to put on my old 2.2 Cavy, then I sold it. The adapter is MSD Ignitions, high quality. And the tach is a standard Sunpro tach. If you are interested in it let me know. It is not a tach as big as your head either, just a 2 3/8"

You have to fuck around with the anti-theft system. There was like a 10 min thing you had to do, thats what i was referring to. SOmthing like you have to turn the car on and then off. But don't open any doors or w/e. Search JBO.. its all there. Its not just plug and play done, there is a little dicking around you have to do.

Personally, I don't like the people on JBO. They never helped me once with questiosn I've had. Yes I did a search, couldn't find anything, then I asked myself. And all I got were like insults and all this newb crap. I was pissed.
SO Cody, what you're saying, is it's not just a swap in and out kind of deal? 01cacy, you on the other hand, have done this, and said that's what it was.

8. Cluster swaps?
I'm not very well-versed on this subject either, but I'm gonna do my best with the information that I've found in a quick search.
First things first, 99- have a theftlock issue. Instructions here are courtesy of KickAzz98z:

Seriously, this is the way to get around it, the theftlock must be reprogrammed, and this is how:
1. Start the car and let it die. The theftlock light will be on, DO NOT TURN THE KEY OFF, OR OPEN ANY DOORS, OR TURN ON ANY ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. Just fold your hands under your arms and wait 10-15 minutes...
2. After the car stalls, the theftlock light will blink. wait until it stops blinking.
3. Wait 1 minute after it stops blinking.
4. Turn the key to off, wait 10 seconds, then start the car again.
You may have to do this 3 times for it to work correctly.
2000+ clusters cannot be swapped with 1999- clusters (this is due to the BCM).
You can switch through 96-98 if they are mechanical, and 98-99 if they are digital. Apparently these are plug and play, but sometimes you have to find a cluster from the same year as your car to work properly (this is a quote from a previous post).
Click the interrior subforum..Fact at the top of the page.. Scroll down to # 8... there ya go. See, searching is fun, easy, and the right thing to do! (sarcasism)

According to that it is only the 99 and below cavys that you have to worry about with the theft system. bh04 doesn't have to worry about it then....it should be plug and play for him as it was for me.
Also I never go to JBO, so I didn't bother to go find out what you were talking about because I had no need to. It worked for me so I wasn't going to complain or dig too deep into it.
