driver side brake light and turn signal

i have a 2001 explorer and not sure what to do. my driver side brake light and turn signal will not work. i've changed the bulb so i know that's not it. i also pulled the bulb housing out of the passenger side which works fine and tried it in the driver side and still no luck. any help would be appreciated

Need more info. Is it just your rear turn signal or is it the front also? I'm guessing rear blinker only along with brake light. There is a splice point in the main branch of wiring harness near where the harness branches off to go to the rear hatch washer pump. This would be a good place to check. Your interested in a light green wire that feeds the stop lamps. There is 3 or 4 Light Green wires spliced together. The splices have a habit of corroding. Even if the outer jacket of the splice looks good, cut it open and check. Let us know how you make out and we'll take it from there.

thanks for replying, my problem is only with the rear drivers side light and the blinker on that side doesn't work either. can you give me a litte more info on where to look for that splice point.

I finally got a chance to take a good look at the wiring schematic. What I told you in the last post is probably not your problem. Your brake lamps and your rear turn signals have one thing in common: They share the same ground. Rear Left and right share the same ground. Since your problem is on the left, trace your ground wire out from the left side and I'm confident you'll find your problem.
