Put in a system, tint the windows, buy a spoiler, and change the intake and then see what I have left over and maybe add lights.

Depends on what types of car you plan on making it. Do you want it to be for show or for go.

I agree with cficare. It really would depend on if you want a car to just look real good, or if you want the car for racing people. I'm going to try to fix the look up abit (though Im told my car looks great as it is and all that is done is like... neons). Then I'll put abit of money just for abit of extra hp. Here in Nebraska you generally dont need too much because it's mainly just idiots cruising the "strip" with stock Hondas or whatever.

Hey, don't hate the Hondas.....mine (Acura) is completely stock :grinno:, but i still love it. And you'd need a little more hp than what a stock Cavalier has got to beat it!

:iagree: but its going to cost more than a grand....unless you do a ghetto build using old DSM parts

Sorry didn't mean to be a Honda hater. I'm just saying it is the car of choice around here, mainly the Civic with Accords also being pretty common. I used to beat them in my stock Beretta which when new should've had around 115? 125 hp? Somewhere in that area. I didn't of course beat ALL of them though. I can't pretend I've got a perfect race record :p

Whats wrong with DSM parts? ;) Like lots of other people said, decide what you want (show or go) and go for it. $1500 is a pretty good base for a turbo kit, but you will probably need more. A 14b can support somewhere around 300 hp and they are cheap as hell. You could also build a sweet sound system, body kit, etc for $1000.

theres nothing wrong w/ DSM parts, they're just a little cheaper than new parts.....just don't get SSAC parts....They don't have the greatest reputation

SSAC? Yeah, my friend Shawn did a ghetto build on his Neon. Man that thing is a beast though. Its like a 95 purple neon with the 420a, at first he did the ghetto build, used parts off of old DSMs and he made parts and got it together for less than $500. Then it was quick, now hes done a lot of work on it. He completely built the bottom and top enda and some big ass t3/t4. He took it to a track and beat a mildly modded SRT4 with like a high 12 second pass IIRC.

SSAC is SSAutoChrome....they make parts out of paper mache and old shoe laces.....actually their parts aren't that bad but you get what you pay for. I'm building a turbo set up right now and i'm not going cheap although i'd really like to!!
you know the drill....
Cheap Reliable Fast
