1990 Accord door lock issue

Drivers side door latch doesn't work, door is, unfortunately closed. Linkage is fine. I found one at a junkyard, located what seems to be the hole for a tool to manually trip the latch. I sacrificed a small screwdriver and made a sort of tool. No problem with the loose purchased mechanism. The one in the car doesn't even feel like the sliding part is there. Yes, I made sure it was in the unlocked position. It acts as if it is already tripped (the door is not budging at all) or that the lever I am trying to trip is what is broken. Other than sawing the door off,do you have any suggestions?

Call a locksmith, ask them if it's something they've seen before. They usually have and know how to deal with it.

Inside latch? Outside? Both?
