SS/SC Vs. 05 Accord.

Haven't had anything much happen lately but I got a good one about an hour ago.

I know what you're all thinking too...you're probably thinking that Bulldog was being an assclown and picking on some 4cyl 4-door Accord. But this isn't the case! :grinno:

Shortly after merging on the highway I was greeted by a set of halo headlights from a familiar looking Black front-end in my rearview. Turns out to be a very nice looking special edition 2 door V6 Accord on chrome rims. As he passed me I also noticed that he had some exhaust work done as well and it sounded very nice with it's small, round, aftermarket mufflers. How far back his exhaust went I cannot say but from the look of the car and the guy I wouldn't be surprised if he had a bit of money in it.

Anyhow, he drops back a bit and gets next to me, pacing me. As I excellerate he does the same and we're now both doing around 85-90 on an open highway which was very odd at that time in the afternoon since traffic is usually nasty. He's about a bumper ahead at 85 when he downshifts and guns it. Out of laziness I left it in 4th and follow pursuit and he puts me at his back bumper before I stop his pull. We both kept our throttles pinned untill 105 or so before he hits the brakes and I go flying by, letting the engine do my braking. After I slowed back down to 80 he catches up but there's a bit of traffic ahead so we waited for a bit until we had a nice 1/2 mile gap in traffic.

Now I'm ready for him and pop it in 3rd gear while still doing 80 and wait for him to pull even. Neither of us make a move at first so I sped up a touch and let off to let him know I'm game for round two. He caught on quickly and downshifted and punched it as did I. From 80-105 I put about 1 1/2 lengths on him and with a shift to 4th gear at 6500 revs I put another 1 1/2 lengths before he shut her down. So at about 115 I had about 3 lengths on him, which I was pretty happy about.

I was so close to buying one about 2 years ago to, still wouldn't mind having one either. Very clean looking car.

Edit: Forgot an important part. After we were done running he came along my passenger side with his window rolled down and gave me a friendly nod and a smile. I returned it with the ole' thumbs up and a nod.

It does much better from a stoplight than at the track, mainly because surface streets are much more grippy. I'd say if I can catch traction with minimal wheel-hop it's equally as good from a stop as it is on a roll.

*accelerate, and not *excellerate*

Of COURSE that's what I ment. I was just seeing if any of you would catch it... :uhoh:

cool, your preatty rounded up. I was wondering cause a guy whos only driven one type of car tends to under or overesstimate others all the time but you seem to have experience in all types of drivetrains and such.

Yes, ALL types. As long as it's a GM, since that's all I've ever owned.

But to my defense I've got buddies with a bunch of various other vehicles(most of which I have worked on and driven). This includes a supercharged 5.0, a supercharged M3, a bunch of N/A 5.0s and a whole lot of Hondas and such. There was also a friend of a friend who's got an Evo MR, his best time was a 14.1.

I can't wait to get the Camaro running again though, I miss that car like no other.

i still browse the forums, just never reply cause of time constraints. Just take a quick look of what's going on, then go on mission. With the elections coming up (agian) yes we're very busy. If everything stays as planned, should be back in Mid-late Feb. early March at the latest. I see your still pounding people on the street ;) nice job.

see ya around, Brandon

Nah, the Camaro isn't running just yet. But it will be shortly, hopefully within the next 3 months. The body shop has been dragging it's feet a bit, as well as our useless mechanic that works for my families company.

Good kill bulldog. The '05 V6 Accords are not an easy defeat unless you're quicker than 14s. My friend had trouble beating one form light to light in his lightly modded Z28. He was only able to pull about a carlength or so (up to about 80mph). Your Cobalt really hauls ass up top.

I'm 21 years old. All the trucks I've owned were given to me by my grandfather, they were work trucks untill I took them over(02 HD is still a work truck). I bought the two cars myself though.
