Hello everyone,
My question is there a way I could clean my engine coolant/flush? I want to take the engine coolant container and clean it out.
The car is a 98 with 120,000 miles on it

The tank you can just take off and clean it out with soap. The coolant system can be flushed with or without a flush treatment.

When you drain the radiator the fill tank will empty out. I just blast away with the garden hose inside the tank. I converted my 2002 over to the regular green antifreeze after reading all the horror stories about Dexcool. I drain and refill every year with 50/50 mix. Cheap insurance. On cars that I maintain this way I have never, ever had to replace a radiator or heater core. For those of you in northern climates be sure to rinse the road salt off the front of the radiator because it can rot from the outside-in.

Dexcool(red) protects your cavys engine better than the green. The problem is people tend to leave it in there forever.I have read on the forums,to change the Dexcool every 3 years instead of the 5 years.

It can gum up.9 times out of 10 it's because people try to mix the green with the red. :screwy: Other than that the red stuff is alright.

Actually the green antifreeze is a substitute for the red and works the same. the red color is a GM product that was made so you would have to go through the dealer ship to get it. there is not difference between the green and the red
