Alpine S vs. Infinity Referance

like topic says, Alpine vers. Infinity.

i dont drive a Honda, but this page came up a lot when i searched the site for stereo stuff...

anyway, deal is i drive a 2002 Camry LE V6 bla bla bla, it has 6 speakers and i want to replace all them, but not the head or anything, not yet. so basicly i just want a mid-range system, nothing overly expensive, but - obviously - i want it to sound nice. i listen mostly to rock, but will (and do) listen to a LOT of music. so i need a balanced system.

unfortuantly i can not find a damn audio store that has the current Infinity REF stuff hooked up, so all i have heard was the Alpine, and slightly outdated Infinity. i had a long list of speakers to check out such as boston, Polk, JL and a few others at the store. and have pretty much narrowed it to the Alpine or the Infinity. they both sound great i think, and i would i guess give the Infin a slight advantage... but it costs more.

if you want, you can suggest other brands i may not have tryed; however, they must carry 6x9s, and 3 1/2s. i want all the speakers from the same company, and would like the subs (later down the road) same company. so they must produce good stuff all the way around.

so the point is, i cant decide, so i will bring it down to people's experance. which is a better company? i mean service wise.

excuse the horrible spelling, i usually spellcheck in word. i cant spell.

I'm not huge into audio, but I know both of those speakers are respectable. If you're looking for good audio, check out JL Audio too, they can be a bit pricey though.

Yes, JL Audio is a bit pricey. Having worked with both JL and Alpine, I know for a fact that Alpine in every bit as good as JL. In fact, more than one of their subs' specifications match JL's *exactly*. It's what prompted me to get an Alpine Type S subwoofer 4 years ago. I've been very pleased with it's performance, and it's still pounding to this day! Now, obviously to each their own. People have their favorites, and there's nothing wrong with that. I've dealt a little with Infinity, and though I think they make a good high end speaker, I think their "entry level" has a bit to be desired. I would say, for the money, Alpine will be your best bet. They have a fairly solid lineup straight through..amps, subs, speakers, head units, video, etc. Yes, JL is definately good, no doubt about it. But I think you'll spend a lot less with Alpine to get about the same sound.

Alpine Type S. I'd say that the Infinity reference is more equivalent to the Es than the S. If you're looking for cheap equipment check out www.ikesound.com They were having trouble shipping peoples orders because of the hurricane, they are based in Florida, but I think everything is cherry now. They have Alpine Type Rs for $105 a piece plus $60 shipping. 1 10" Type R should suit you quite nicely since you mostly listen to rock.

I have 2 Type Rs mated to a 1200 watt Hifonics amp. I need a bit of a bigger box, but they sound great.

i have all the stuff you need....i paired 2 Alpine Type S 6.25's in the front and 2 Alpine Type R 6x9's in the rear all on a Lanzar VIBE410 amp...it sounded sweet. I have that and all of the power wiring, fuse block, speaker wires and RCA's for sale if you're interested....a lot below retail!!

It was in a project Civic EX that i sold because i found an Integra GSR that i just had to have....and i couldn't have 3 cars because the insurance was a little much....

but those speakers are amazing and the amp has the perfect amount of power for them....and if you decide to get subs later, Alpine makes some amazing subs! I've listened to JL in other cars, but i think my Alpines blew them all away!

PM me if you're interested!
