relay?....for heater motor

Got a new motor for my 98 Grand Prix, also new resistors.....it runs for a few seconds on low speed settings, then I hear a "click" coming from the drivers side and it shuts off. High speed runs fine. There are 3 relays in the drivers side panel....are any of these tied into the heater switch?

That's not good news. Since you've changed just about everything like the resistor and blower motor you could have a bad ignition switch and harness assembly. The only relay involved in direct blower motor operation is the blower hi speed relay but your position 5 works so you can rule that out. The 12v originates at the switch and feeds the HVAC control head unit.
The ignition switch is a common failure item on '97 - '99 Grand Prixs after age plus wear n tear.

IF you bought a non-Delco blower motor, did they sell you the correct one? There are two different blower motors depending on whether you have climate control or manual A/C. If you got the wrong one , it will do exactly what you describe.

Thats a possibility and a good suggestion Rich. Maybe you can provide him with the right part numbers to cross check. I know on the Autozone replacements that some of the parts listings have the OEM part number even though it may be an aftermarket part.
He definitely has the manual HVAC system and blower motor resistor. I worked on another message thread with him.

The 98 Grand Prix with manual A/C uses a Delco part number 15-8949 (GM#52489321). If you still have your receipt from where you got your blower motor, get me the brand and part number and I'll cross reference it for you to see if you have the correct one. The resistor part number is 15-80571 (GM#89018643)

Rich, I made it a point to ask the guy at the counter about the manual/dual climate control issue and he "assured" me I had the right part.....although this motor has no plug, just 2 leads, and it looks cheap!
I've got to say, the origional motor did the same thing before it finally took the big dirt nap. Either way, I'm happy to get another 3-4 months of service on high speed.....gonna dump it when the "Eagle" $hits. lmao
