by retarding the dizzy (a lot) and running a car pretty hard?

had to have a smog tech "help me" pass because i have no cat (dumb, i know. i bought it that way) the car is mildly built and wouldn't have passed anyway.

after the tech did this, the car was smoking from underneath the car off the exhaust (which didn't bother me) but it was also smoking from the intake mani and valve cover.(that did bother me)

since then, the car has run hotter, burns oil and turns it black, and the exhaust smells a lot worse, almost like i have a leak.

no oil in coolant or vice versa, but that doesn't totally rule out a blown headgasket.

i think it's the exhaust side valve seals...but any input would be helpful.

ok, that has nothing to do with my question, but i'll answer anyway.

i bought the car like that, and it's fine with me. it's my dd, so why would i go out of my way to put a bigger intake mani on it? then i'd have to up the fuel pressure or get bigger injectors, both of which will make my car way less economical. and when i'm paying almost $3 a gallon, that's not what i need...

in the future, when it's not my dd, it will be upgraded.
