well first a spark plug broke off in the motor that need to be removed with an easy out.
Next, when I went to replace the cap and rotor here is what happened:

So. to the junk yard I went, an $20 later I came home with:

Can't wait to try adjusting the timing.

If it wasn't for bad luck, you'd have no luck at all, Good luck.

True. But with 237k on the truck, I'm happy. Never had any internal problems with the truck.
And as a bonus. I found a door that is in perfect shape with absolutely zero rust on it. It will replace the last peice that has any rust on my truck! An for only $40!

1992. Original auto trans. no major engine work ever performed just a radiator and a few sensors and a water pump.
Biggest fixes ever was replacing the fuel tank and sending unit.
BTW, this is a p/u and has been used to haul alot of wood and other stuff.
I don't use it as a daily driver anymore. Just the weekend truck.

Laxman;
Did you own your truck since new?
I'm just 1/2 wondering if it took a salt water bath at one time.
I've just never seen a distributer corroded like that.
Really nice find on the door though, so you picked a good day for a bone yard run

Owned it since it was brand spankin new. Was my daily driver up until 2003. Don't really put much milage on it now. Couple thousand a year.
Hey, where I live, they salt the roads if there is a 1% chance of snow in the forecast.
And when it snows, I do go out and play.
And the truck was a rust bucket before I was hit on the passenger side.
I have replaced both front fenders. The crash replaced the bed and the passenger’s side extend cab, which had a nice big rust spot.
Now the passenger side door is the only rust problem left.
Last summer, I removed the windshield and fixed all the rust around that area. I had 4 windshields replace and I blame Safelite for not priming the area before installing the new glass as the cause for the rust. Now the windshield doesn't leak.
I have pictures if you want to see that restoration project.

I will when I get home. The pictures don't start until I am half way through. I forgot to take before pictures. And I really never took them to post a "how to".
