hey guys in pretty unfamiliar to the 240 scene, but ive plenty of knowledge of nissans, (i drive a 2005 spec v sentra) im looking ot pickup a 240sx for a project car, i will be needing it for track use, learning to drift (police training course with no walls, basicly a flat parking lot, im not going to crash it) and eventually showing it. I really like the s13 hatchback side and rear, but ive seen a front end conversion that i love, i think it was a s15 front, what are your opinions on the best looking 240? i will be looking for one with no motor, im going ot swap in a rb26 anyways and if im swapping the fronts, the front end doesnt need to look good or anything, as long as it isnt bent up or anything. also what kind of work is involved with swapping the rb26dett into each chassis, is it as simple as mounts or do you need driveshafts and tranny mounts as well? i would appreciate any help you guys may be able to give, i want plenty of research before i go buying things. thanks in advance

yea driveshaft and the rb25 transmission and transm. mounts. you could also just get the RWD RB25DET, but whatever. and personally i dont like the S15 front, i like either modded popups (half open ones w/ diff. bulbs, or clear housing stationary ones like 300ZX) or the S13 Silvia front (square lights).

You need the RB25DET transmission and oilpan, you'll need custom engine an dtranny mounts, custom downpipe, driveshaft, rad hoses, turbo piping, etc. It's a big job that's made for show, 99.9% of people will never even come close to use the full potential of that engine and will be better off with a KA or SR or CA.

i will admit that most of why this engine is being used is to say "skyline engine in this bish" i fully realise that the sr20det or even a ka-det could be more than enough, what are the major differences in the rb26 and rb25det's? which powerband is fatter, and which one is easier to swap? im fully flame ready, but flaming will do nothing for improving my knowledge, im trying to learn something here

would i need to swpa gauge clusters and tach's what is the redline of each engine and which is better for drifting, particular motor the 240 responds well to?

RB26 is twin turbo and has an extra .1 liter and has ITBs and has a 6speed tranny (R34) but it's AWD so you gotta use the RB25 tranny.

Not really full itbs i think, or at least a little different that regular ones, they come in 3 parts with 2 throttle bodies per part...i think the primera with sr20 has similar thing except 2 of them...

no, the RB26 has 6 individual throttle bodies as in, it has 6 individual throttle bodies all hooked up to the intake manifold. if you look at it upclose, you can see the individual rocker arms pulling every single throttle plate open.

The difference between the RB26 ITBs and the ITBs on say an NA F20c is that the RB26 ones have a plenum around them, the Honda ones are usually atmospheric.

so the Honda ones run like you see in picutres, no filter or anything just 4 holes?

anywho...back on topic for this guy...its been said many times before...do something to the car that you would like...if you like the s13.5 conversion...do it (s15 from on s13 chassis) if you want to do a rb26 do it...it is alot of work. if your going to do any RB series swap i would recommend getting mckinney mounts and crossmember, to make the engine sit properly...there are alot of dissicusions no the RB swaps...just you the search function...good info to be found.

^^^^^ perfect...... and i know i can do whatever i want, my point is to see what you guys think looks good, im not building the car for you, but i also dont have every front end conversion picture sitting in front of me, i just want to know the general consensus on what looks good, thank you for your help so far, i want this thing to be a headsnapper at the track so i think the rb26 is the powerplant to go with, anyone have a link to a place that offers front end kits for the 240? that mckinney motorsports link was what i needed for the engine, one just like it for the front end and im good to go, once again, thanks guys
